Enrique Morones

Immigration is one of the most hotly-debated issues of our time. Internationally-acclaimed immigrant and undocumented alien-rights activist and founder of Border Angels, he brings to the forefront stories of those often forgotten in this fight for social

Long time internationally acclaimed human rights activist, Enrique Morones was born in San Diego to Luis Morones and Laura Careaga. They instilled in him a deep spiritual faith and a passion for social justice.

Enrique is President and Founder of Border Angels, an all-volunteer group he established in 1986 which places food, water and other provisions in the desert on the border areas to help save migrant lives.

Enrique has been featured on NBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, BBC, NPR, HBO, The Today Show, Univision's Don Francisco Presenta, Televisa Nacional, Rocio en Telemundo and countless other international media around the world. He frequently lectures and has more than held his own on shows with Bill O'Reilly, Lou Dobbs, Minutemen founders and many other, promoting the truth about the migrant community and exposing vigilantes such as the Minutemen for who they really are. As a founder of Gente Unida, a human rights border coalition of 65 groups, he led the national effort against the Minutemen, and soundly shut down them down in California. He is recognized as one of the 100 most influential Latinos in the USA by Hispanic Business Magazine and his recognitions include being Frontline Human Rights international awardee for his lifelong dedication to Human Rights.

Enrique is no stranger to leadership roles. He is the first person to receive dual nationality with Mexico, and along with Border Angels, he also founded the House of Mexico in San Diego, Gente Unida, and the Marcha Migrantes. Morones was recently named Mexico’s 2009 Human Rights Awardee by Mexico’s Commission on Human Rights. Currently Enrique continues to expand Border Angels outreach and travels the country speaking to groups about humane immigration reform and the realities of life and death on the border. He recently completed a 75-mile trek through Mexico and US deserts in solidarity with migrants.

Enrique continues his all volunteer Human Rights work, living by the scripture passage: "when I was hungry did you give me to eat, when I was thirsty did you give me to drink" Matthew 25:35
