Eric Mahlstedt is the head of user research at IBM Cloud, Data & Artificial Intelligence (AI). Mahlstedt is an expert in human-computer interaction (HCI), usability testing and user experience (UX).

Mahlstedt has previously worked in user experience research at Oracle and Progress Software, the latter of which he was the lead UX researcher at.

Mahlstedt holds a bachelor of science degree from University of California-San Diego in Cognitive Science with Human-Computer Interaction. He also has a master's degree from San Jose State University in Human Factors and Ergonomics, graduating summa cum laude.
