For Erik, a single, overpowering theme has dominated his life: Empower people & pastors to find and fulfill their unique purpose in life by embracing and expressing their God-given S.H.A.P.E. for life. Because of that singular focus, the road he has traveled - from corporate America to fulltime ministry - is populated by lives changed for God.

The Bible makes it clear, Erik believes, that everyone was made by God to make a Kingdom difference for God. As pastor and leader of the Ministry & S.H.A.P.E. Discovery Teams at Saddleback Church, Erik knows his unique Kingdom purpose is to help others discover their own. He not only has been instrumental in empowering thousands of people to embrace this truth about their life, but God continues to use him to equip thousands of leaders and pastors, from all around the world, to empower their people to do the same.

Erik is not only a pastor, speaker and trainer; he is also the founder and architect of Serving Central & Your Serving Sweet Spot. Two online tools targeted at empowering people and pastors to live the life God created them to live.

Erik is the author of S.H.A.P.E.: Finding & Fulfilling Your Unique Purpose for Life (Zondervan), S.H.A.P.E. Small Group video curriculum (Purpose Driven Publishing), and Your Life Review (Purpose Driven Publishing). Erik enjoys various sports activities and reading books focused on the issues of servanthood, spiritual leadership, and organizational development. Erik spends his free time with his wife their three children.
