Erin Jackson

Two-Time Olympian, Speedskater, Roller Derby Player & Engineering Grad

A young, black woman from Central Florida who had never set foot on ice until a few years prior, stood on the top step of the Olympic podium in Tokyo to receive her gold medal as the fastest skater on the planet. Unlikely is an understatement, but Erin Jackson did it. She is now the first black woman in history to win speedskating gold.

In 2015, Jackson graduated cum laude from the University of Florida Honors Program with a BS in Materials Science & Engineering. Two years later she made the transition from inline skating to speedskating on ice, where she quickly qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Jackson also earned an AS in Computer Science from Salt Lake Community College in 2020 and is working toward an AS in Exercise Science and Kinesiology.

Hear the remarkable story of her meteoric rise from ‘Bambi on ice’ to the cover of Sports Illustrated. Erin Jackson is the Olympic Champion.
