Psychiatrist, Activist, Co-Founder & Mental Health Director of Humanity Crew; TED Fellow

Essam Daod is the co-founder of Humanity Crew, an international aid organization specializing in the provision of first response mental health interventions to displaced populations. An avid refugee mental health activist, he has spoken at countless conferences and media outlets all over the world advocating for the importance of mental health support for refugees.

Through his work at Humanity Crew, Daod seeks to create a world in which mental health support is a fundamental component in all emergency efforts for victims of humanitarian crises.

A psychiatrist by profession specializing in children and adolescents, Daod is Palestinian, having grown up in Israel in a small Arab Palestinian village in the Galilee. He is a WHO mental health expert team member and the first Palestinian citizen of Israel to become a TED Fellow.
