Mayor, City of Seat Pleasant, MD

Mayor Eugene W. Grant was elected to serve a fourth term making him the longest-serving mayor in the history of Seat Pleasant.

Serving more than 30 years in non-profit community development and city governance, Mayor Grant leads with a results-oriented approach. Mayor Grant is leading the charge to move the City of Seat Pleasant towards becoming a Smart City, which delivers better, faster and more personalized City services to its citizens.

Due to the Mayor’s efforts, Seat Pleasant is on target to become the first Smart City in the State of Maryland by 2017. In 1989, Grant founded Global Developmental Services for Youth, Inc., (“GDSY”) an international non-profit organization impacting youth worldwide. Under Grant’s continued leadership, GDSY has mentored over 3,000 children internationally, developing their mental, physical and social skills.

Mayor Grant currently serves on numerous boards and committees including the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Stop The Violence Campaign, Advisory Board for the African American Mayors Association, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and numerous others. He serves also as the Chairman of the Maryland Black Mayor’s Community Development Corporation, Treasurer of the Maryland Municipal League, and President of the Prince George’s County Municipal Association.
