Eugene Kirpichov

Climate Leader

Eugene Kirpichov co-founded Work on Climate in 2020, initially as an online community helping professionals find jobs working on solutions to climate change. It has become the world's largest community of this sort - with 30,000+ members, thousands of whom have found jobs and built companies. Over time, the organization grew into a leading non-profit working to build the workforce needed to solve climate change by creating the necessary changes in the workforce, education, and innovation systems. Work On Climate's work has been lauded everywhere from Fast Company to The New York Times.

In his past life, Kirpichov spent 15 years as a software engineer in big tech -- including, most recently, seven years at Google-- focusing on big data and AI systems. After realizing the severity of the climate crisis, he resigned, sharing a LinkedIn post urging others to take similar action. The post went viral and attracted thousands of other professionals wishing to work in climate, motivating the creation of Work On Climate.
