FAMSVARPAC was founded by parents of Parkland students who were in the school at the time of the attack. Both have taken action in one way or another after the incident, but FAMSVARPAC is expanding daily to include many walks of life: Victims, law enforcement officials, vets, and mostly families who do not want to be in the next headline​.

The group's mission is to prevent the mass shootings made possible when civilians have easy access to military grade semi-automatic rifles, magazines, and bump stocks — guns that were meant for war, not schools.
