Fan Bao is the chairman and CEO of China Renaissance, a leading independent investment bank based in China. Fan founded China Renaissance in 2004 to advise fast-growing Chinese entrepreneurs on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions strategy. Today, China Renaissance has grown to become the largest privately held investment bank in China and its clients include most of the leading technology, health care, and consumer companies in China, such as Tencent, Baidu and 360buy. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Fan worked four years at AsiaInfo, a leading Chinese software company, as its chief strategy officer. Fan spent his formative years on Wall Street with Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse. A native of Shanghai, Fan is among a rare group of Chinese that have studied in Scandinavia, though skiing still doesn't come naturally for him. On the other hand, Fan is an avid practitioner of all sorts of auto sports and mixed martial arts and a self-admitted adrenaline junkie. Fan is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the China Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
