Former Catholic Priest; Religion Commentator; Author; Contributor to Fox News

Father Jonathan Morris is an American author and commentator on religious matters in the media/ He has been a Fox News contributor and analyst since 2005.

He formerly served in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York as a priest. In 2019, he requested dispensation from the clerical state. Morris stated that he had struggled for years with his vocation and the commitments that the Catholic priesthood demands, especially not being able to marry and raise a family. His request is pending approval by Pope Francis. In the meantime, Cardinal Dolan has granted Morris's request to be removed from active ministry.

Currently, Morris appears as a news contributor for the Fox News Channel, Fox Business Channel, and The Wall Street Journal. He offers analysis of the ethical, social, and religious news stories of the day. He was also the program director of The Catholic Channel on SiriusXM satellite radio from 2012 until 2015, when he became the pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in the Bronx.

Morris is the author of five books on spirituality for every-day living, including The Promise: God's Purpose and Plan for When Life Hurts and God Wants You Happy: From Self-Help to God's Help. His newest book is The Way of Serenity: Finding Peace and Happiness in the Serenity Prayer.

After studying Business Administration at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, Morris joined the seminary and attained separate degrees in classical humanities, philosophy, and theology. After his ordination in 2002, he served a number of roles, including theological advisor in the making of the feature film The Passion of the Christ. Morris graduated with high honors with a licentiate degree in moral theology from Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University in Rome, Italy.

In 2019, Morris appeared as a priest at the nursing home in the film The Irishman, starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci.
