Father Thomas Williams

Theology Professor, Renowned Priest & Author

Father Thomas Williams, a professor of theology at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University in Rome, walks through the moral life and the conscience in his new book, Knowing Right from Wrong: a Christian Guide to Conscience. Williams, a Catholic priest, discusses in depth the moral life of every human and reveals that it is much more than simply choosing between right and wrong.

Stating that conscience is something all Christians struggle to understand Williams writes, “This book seeks to provide Christians with a fresh set of categories by which to think about conscience and its function in their lives.”

Speaking eight languages – five fluently – with an undergraduate degree in Economics and Finance, a Licentiate in Philosophy, and a Doctorate in Moral Theology, Williams writes Knowing Right from Wrong in an intellectually-charged theological voice, delivering revelations equally appropriate for all believers.

Thomas D. Williams, LC, has appeared as an analyst on church affairs for CNN, ABC and Fox News and now serves as consultant on Vatican affairs for CBS News and MSNBC. For NBC, Williams covered the final illness and death of Pope John Paul II and the election of Pope Benedict XVI.

At the podium, Father Thomas defines moral life, asking how do we strive to achieve a moral life? He helps audiences answer profound questions, such as what is conscience and what role does it play in our lives? He explores his stance on religious education today and assesses the role of religion in current events, such as the Vatican’s stated positions on Birth control, the war in Iraq, women in the priesthood and the AIDS epidemic. As an analyst for church affairs on numerous networks, Father Williams has been asked to comment on a huge range of moral and ethical issues.
