Head of the 5G National Observatory

In 2018 Federico Ruiz became the the Director of the 5G National Observatory which provides updates on all of the latest market developments, including actions being undertaken by the private and public sectors, in the field of 5G. Ruiz is an advanced engineer in the field of Telecommunications with a master's degree from Madrid’s Polytechnic University (UPM). He has a long professional track record in business development, innovation and entrepreneurship, RDI management and the creation of new high-technology products and services. Ruiz speaks English, Spanish and French and has headed up projects in Europe, the United States, Israel and Asia.

Most of Ruiz's career has taken place in start-ups as an entrepreneur and/or founder, most notably in a start-up in Semiconductors that grew to generate more than 20-million Euros in annual revenue, but also in avionics and fintech. He has also filled management and engineering including a CEO position at Arthika Trading Solutions (2015 - 2018), CSO of UAV Navigation (2012 - 2014), VP of Semiconductors Engineering at SIDSA (2003 - 2012) His experience in Semiconductors design provided him with a solid experience in a wide range of industries including mobile communications, wearables, drones, security, satellites and consumer electronics.

Head of the 5G National Observatory, Federico Ruiz, saying: "It is an evolution of video conferencing that we are doing through computers, we free ourselves from the limitations of screens, personal, recreational use, in games, but also has industrial use - to teach someone how to use a machine or tool, for example, rotating an object, teaching how to touch it, how to repair an engine part, etc."
The Role Of 5G, Key To Economic Recovery
The head of the 5G National Observatory (ON5G), Federico Ruiz, believes that “5G will be key to economic recovery after the crisis. Telecommunications are key now and will also be key in a gradual recovery”.
