Felipe Gomez del Campo Is the founder and the CEO of FGC Plasma Solutions, a Cleveland based company which is developing a novel fuel injector for jet engines and gas turbines. Their technology uses plasma to solve many difficult combustion problems, leading to improvements in emissions, operability, safety and fuel efficiency. Felipe originally started this research as a high school science fair project and now, over five years later he has a patent on the technology and has raised over $135,000 in funding. He is working with NASA to further develop the technology and to find a commercial partner to take the technology to market. Felipe was named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list for 2016 in the Energy category. In addition, he was recently honored by President Barack Obama at The White House as an emerging global entrepreneur and won best paper at the 2014 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Conference for his paper on “A Novel Air Assisted Fuel Nozzle Incorporating Gliding Arc Plasma to Enhance Combustion in Lean, Premixed Flames.” He has also been named to the “Who’s Who to Watch in Technology” by Crain’s Cleveland Business as well as one of México’s six extraordinary young people by GQ Mexico. Gomez del Campo is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Aerospace as well as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. Aside from his entrepreneurial pursuits, Felipe is also a varsity athlete, swimming distance freestyle for his college team.
