Fidji Simo is his the CEO of Instacart. Previously, she was head of the Facebook App at Facebook, and Vice President of Video, Games, and Monetization. She serves on the board of Women in Product and L.A. Dance Project.

Simo’s appointment as Instacart’s CEO is effective August 2, 2021. She reports to the company’s board of directors, which she joined in January 2021. Instacart founder and former CEO Apoorva Mehta will move into a new role as executive chairman of the board.

As head of the Facebook app, a role she assumed in March 2019, Simo managed the team supporting the core app, including News Feed, Stories, Groups, Video, Marketplace, Gaming, News, Dating and Ads. Previously, her roles at Facebook included VP of video, games and monetization, leading the team in charge of developing ad formats for mobile. She also headed the group that built and launched Facebook Live and Watch video platforms.

Prior to joining Facebook in 2011, Simo spent four years as a strategy manager at eBay in Europe and the United States. At eBay, she built out the company’s local commerce and classified-advertising initiatives and provided strategic advice to top-level executives on brand positioning, marketing, and advertising. Simo then made the leap to Facebook’s product-marketing-and-advertising division, where she spent two years leading the advertising program for the News Feed.

Simo holds a Master of Management from HEC Paris and spent the last year of her Master program at UCLA Anderson School of Business.
