Lawyer, Notary Public and Conveyancer, High Court of Zimbabwe

Fiona Muchembere is a Lawyer, Notary Public and Conveyancer with the High Court of Zimbabwe. She grew up in poverty and had to struggle to attain education. Fiona is one of the first recipients of support from Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) to go through university education at the University of Zimbabwe where she earned a Bachelor of Laws Degree. Upon completing her studies in 2002, Fiona worked as Human Rights Officer for CAMA, challenging the conspiracy of silence on abuse in rural communities and lobbying the Public Service Commission on its policies to prevent and prosecute abuse. She has also worked as a lawyer with a leading law firm in Zimbabwe and as an advisor to the Central Bank of Zimbabwe. In 2006, Fiona joined CAMFED International as Programme Manager Institutional Development to support the development of CAMA with emerging networks in Ghana, Zambia and Tanzania, in addition to Zimbabwe, to address critical issues affecting women in rural Africa.
