Forsythe

FORSYTHE also known as TakeSomeCrime is a multitalented YouTube personality famous for his many dance videos, which he posts under the alter egos of Forsythe, Guile and Ogg/Ogg Voldo. His most popular video, a dance to Parov Stelar's song Catgroove, has

He first began dancing in front of a video camera and posted his first video on youtube in 2007. Over time, he began using a mirror and worked on the intricacies of the dances he observed on other youtube channels. After uploading a video for Parov Stelars song Catgroove, he was contacted by Dr Boris Bilenjki, Parov Stelar's manager, to perform with his Band live at the 2010 Life-Ball ceremony in Vienna.

Forsythes dancing did not begin with an intention to dance. He was given a camera as a gift and wished to make use of it. Drawing from his background in martial arts (Karate), he began recording interesting body motions resembling fighting moves. After several videos he decided to try playing music in the background during one of his sessions. The most visually and physically pleasing motions were those which corresponded with the music starting or terminating with the beat and following the melodic flow. Of course, he realized that this was not karate, but in fact dance, so he turned to youtube for inspiration from other dancers whose styles matched his newly found appreciation. He came across several videos of dancers performing French Styles of electro dance: Tecktonic, and Milky Way (SMDB-Spoke).

He was fascinated, specifically by the unconventional and sexualized (but still masculine) use of hip movements, which later became the foundation of his dance. Later inspirations came from a plethora of styles ranging from modern dances such as Breakdance, Popping-Locking, Bokko dance; to classic dances of the 1920s such as Charleston, Quickstep, Swing and Lindy Hop. The dance became an amalgamation of all these styles. His learning experience was self motivated, self taught, and only aided by a camera and a mirror. The first takeSomeCrime video was posted to share a dance with his family across the country in Halifax during Fall of 2007.

Having experienced a profound self-fulfillment through dance, he continued regular postings ever since.
