Chief Creative Officer, Grey

Fran Luckin is Chief Creative Officer of Grey Africa in Johannesburg. After 20 years in “traditional” advertising, featuring tours of duty at TBWA Hunt/Lascaris, and ten years at Ogilvy Johannesburg, during which she served as Executive Creative Director, Fran joined Quirk (now Mirum Africa) as CCO, in order to gain digital experience. The decision was driven by her desire to learn to use technology to create immersive, rich stories and experiences for brands. Her work has been recognised by every major awards show. She has had the privilege of serving on three previous Cannes Lions Juries and has also judged the Clio Awards, D&AD, and the One Show.

Fran Luckin is the Chief Creative Officer of Grey Africa.

She began her career at The Jupiter Drawing Room. In 1997 she joined TBWA/Hunt Lascaris and became a Creative Director there in 2000.

In 2003 she joined Ogilvy Johannesburg, and became Executive Creative Director of Ogilvy Johannesburg in 2008.

That year, Ogilvy Johannesburg was no 1 South African agency at the Cannes Lions.

In 2009 , it was no 1 agency in Ogilvy Worldwide at the Cannes Lions. In 2010, the company won South Africa's first Film Gold Lion in 11 years, It was no 1 agency at the Loerie awards in 2007, 2008, and 2009, and no 1 agency at the Apex Awards in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.

In 2012, she was appointed to the 15-member Ogilvy Worldwide Creative Council.

She was named as one of the top ten most influential people in South African advertising in The Annual 2009 - South Africa’s most authoritative compendium of the advertising, media, marketing and branding industry.

From 2013 to 2015 she was Executive Creative Director of Quirk Johannesburg, a digital agency and part of the Mirum group.

She has judged international and local creative awards shows (including the Cannes Lions Film Jury, the Cannes Outdoor Jury, the Clio Awards and D&AD) – and has also sat on the judging panel for the Apex Awards - South Africa’s version of the Effie Awards.

She has an MBA from the Berlin School of Creative Leadership.
