Francis Okwu
Talent Manager; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Advocate
Francis Chiedoze Kingsley Okwu has been a Talent Manager in Hollywood, CA. for 20 years. Prior to becoming a Manager, Francis was a Talent Agent at a Boutique Agency representing Award winning Actors Samuel Jackson, Angela Bassett, Taye Diggs, Steven Buscemi, and Alfred Molina.
As a manager, Francis discovered and developed Brit Robertson (THE ROOKIE: Feds – ABC, TOMORROWLAND-Walt Disney Pictures), Catherine Bell (THE GOOD WITCH – Lifetime, JAG-CBS/Paramount), Jessica Szohr (THE ORVILLE-FOX, GOSSIP GIRL-CW/17th Street Productions) and Avan Jogia (ORPHAN BLACK – AMC, TWISTED-ABC Family/Pariah) to name a few. He currently works with Diego Klattenhoff (THE BLACKLIST-NBC Sony Studios) (HOMELAND-HBO 20th Century Fox Studios), Grace Park (A MILLION LITTLE THINGS – ABC, HAWAII 5-0 -CBS/CBS Paramount Studios) (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA -The SY FY Channel/BSkyB), Danielle Savre (STATION 19-ABC),Michael Shanks (SAVING HOPE-NBC/Bell Broadcasting), EVAN RODERICK (SPINNING OUT - NETFLIX), KAYA COLEMAN (BEYOND BLACK BEAUTY – FREVEE), and Martha MacIsaac (BATTLE OF THE SEXES-Cloud Eight Films).
For Francis, there’s nothing more enjoyable in the entertainment representation business than finding a new talent and strategically guiding them in their theater, television and film careers.
He was born in Nigeria to parents who worked in the foreign service. They lived in Washington DC, London, and Tanzania. His father was involved in the Nigeria/Biafra Civil War so for safety they fled Africa and settled in Connecticut. He received a bachelor’s in urban planning from The University of Connecticut and worked in Architecture for several years until he decided to pursue a master’s degree in television and film management from Emerson College in Boston, MA.
When not working, you can find Francis on the soccer field. He’s been coaching children for more than 20 years ranging in age from 4-20. He started a program in his town for 3,4 and 5 years. He says, “there is nothing more fun than corralling 75 little munchkins to dribble a ball around cones.”
