Fred Armisen is a versatile comedian, actor, writer, and musician best known for his work on “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) and the sketch comedy series “Portlandia.” Born on December 4, 1966, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Armisen grew up in New York. He has become one of the most recognizable faces in comedy, praised for his unique brand of humor that blends absurdity with keen social observation.

Armisen's comedy career took off when he joined the cast of “SNL” in 2002. During his tenure on the show, he became known for his memorable impressions of celebrities like Barack Obama, Prince, and Steve Jobs, as well as for creating eccentric original characters. He remained on “SNL” until 2013, contributing to the show for over a decade.

In addition to his work on “SNL,” Armisen co-created and starred in “Portlandia” (2011–2018), a satirical sketch comedy series that humorously captures the quirks of Portland, Oregon’s countercultural lifestyle. The show became a cult favorite and earned him several Emmy nominations. He also co-created “Documentary Now!,” a mockumentary series with Bill Hader and Seth Meyers, in which he parodies iconic documentaries.

Fred Armisen’s talents extend beyond comedy. He is a musician and was the drummer for the Chicago-based punk band Trenchmouth.
