At the age of 20, Frederic Hauge established the Bellona Foundation in 1986, an international scientific and technology based environmental NGO with 60 employees in Norway, Russia, the European Union and the United States. Through investigation, documentation, legal action and non violent activism, Bellona has made a substantial contribution to the dramatic attitude change towards environmental problems and has facilitated concrete changes in environmental policies among political and industrial leaders in Norway and internationally.
In March 2007 Frederic Hauge, a Norwegian national, was elected Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council for the European Commission's Technology Platform for Zero Emission Fossil Fuel Power Plants (ZEP,) whose vision is to craft zero emission power plants by 2020.
