Friederike Otto    

Associate Director of the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford

Friederike Elly Luise Otto is a German climatologist who as of January 2021 was Associate Director of the Environmental Change Institute (ECI) at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on how extreme weather conditions can result from external climate drivers. A recognized expert in the field of attribution research, she examines the extent to which human developments are likely to be responsible for events such as the extreme summer of 2019, and their repercussions on global warming. As a result of these interests, she has become a member of the international project World Weather Attribution.

Otto is on the Time 100 list of Most Influential People of 2021.
