Gabriella Stern is a deputy managing editor of The Wall Street Journal and the editor for strategic initiatives. After graduating from Yale University, she joined The Omaha World-Herald, reporting from that newspaper’s in-state and Washington, D.C., bureaus. Armed with a Master’s degree in political science, she joined the Journal’s Pittsburgh bureau in 1991 as a reporter, becoming the Detroit bureau’s deputy bureau chief three years later. After a few years in New York as a news editor, she joined Dow Jones Newswires in 2000. She spent six years as the London-based senior editor for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and another three years in Singapore as the senior editor for Asia-Pacific. Upon her return to New York, she served for three years as a senior editor for the Newswires with a portfolio that included global news coverage and oversight of the Americas bureaus. After serving as managing editor of DJFX Trader, she became a WSJ deputy digital editor in 2012. Since her latest appointment in February 2014, she has managed a range of international and digital initiatives.
