Gadi Schwartz is a NBC News correspondent. He is the co-host of Stay Tuned, an NBC News program broadcast on Snapchat's Discover platform; it is the first daily news show on Snapchat.
Schwartz joined NBC4 after spending nearly a decade at KOB-TV, the NBC affiliate, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was a weekend co-anchor and managing investigator for the “4 On Your Side” Investigative Unit.
As a journalist, Schwartz believes it is his responsibility to hold the powerful accountable and expose stories of injustice in hopes of bringing about positive change. He is lauded for his investigative journalism skills and has been credited with breaking some of the most important and memorable investigative stories in New Mexico’s recent past, including an expose into a Public Regulation Commissioner’s embezzlement of government money and prescription drug addiction. Other news stories he has uncovered have led to high level resignations, landslide elections and political reform.
The son of Sergio Schwartz, a former journalist for Univision in Albuquerque, Schwartz spent much of his childhood shadowing his father. He believes broadcast journalism builds a sense of community, and despite the differences that may exist, people have far more in common.
Of Hispanic descent and fluent in Spanish, Schwartz was born in Guatemala City, and moved with his family to Belen, New Mexico, and later to Albuquerque when he was seven. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a bachelor’s degree in Government and Journalism with a minor in International Relations.
Schwartz covered the Olympic Games twice, at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, Korea, and at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was named "Best Investigative Reporter" and "Best Reporter" by the New Mexico Broadcaster's Association. In 2012, he was awarded the "Rocky Mountain Emmy Award" for Feature Reporting.
Schwartz enjoys photography and engaging in outdoor sports, including kayaking, skiing and rock climbing.
