Gail Evans is an American author, lecturer, business executive, and former CNN Executive Vice President. Known for her influential books "Play Like a Man, Win Like a Woman" and "She Wins, You Win," Evans has made significant contributions to discussions on gender dynamics in the workplace.
"Play Like A Man, Win Like A Woman" provides insights into the business strategies men utilize for success, which Evans suggests women should also adopt. The book has received extensive acclaim, staying on the New York Times, Business Week, and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists for several months. It has been translated into 21 languages and achieved bestseller status globally. Her subsequent book, "She Wins, You Win," continues to build on her advocacy for women in business.
Evans began her distinguished career in government in the early 1960s, working with several congressional staffs and later at the White House during the Lyndon B. Johnson Administration. She played an integral role in establishing the President's Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity and developing the 1966 Civil Rights Act. Her transition to the media industry began with CNN at its inception in 1980, where she ascended to Executive Vice President, contributing to the development of popular programs and overseeing national and international talk shows.
Since retiring in 2001, Evans has maintained an active presence in academia and public speaking. She is currently an adjunct professor at Georgia Tech’s School of Management, teaching "Gender, Race and Ethnicity in Global Organizations." Additionally, she continues to share her expertise with many of the world’s leading companies, including AT&T, Exxon, and Microsoft.
Evans is dedicated to numerous charitable causes and has served on multiple boards, such as the Radio Television News Directors Foundation and the Breman Jewish Heritage Museum. She was appointed by President Clinton to the Commission on White House Fellows, evidencing her continued influence in national affairs. Additionally, as a founding board member of Greenstone Media, Evans has extended her impact into media geared specifically towards women.
