Gary Italiaander

Photographer, Educator, Author & Musician

The Photographer, Gary Italiaander, is a portrait specialist who works internationally. His portraits incorporate facets of the lives of the people he portrays and hang in homes, offices and palaces on every continent. Italiaander is also a Videographer, Educator, Musician, Author and sought-after Guest Speaker.

Having shown musical ability at a very young age beginning with the harmonica, Italiaander studied at the London College of Music under the Directorship of Dr William Lloyd Webber. He qualified as a piano teacher and music specialist completing a further year’s study at the University of Reading.

After a few years teaching, a change of direction took place into the world of Photography where he came to the attention of Harrods who invited him to open the Italiaander Portrait Studio from where all portraiture for Harrods clients was commissioned. Italiaander left Harrods to allow greater freedom to travel to assignments abroad and to develop other significant projects working with organisations including Arik Air International, Steinway, and Boeing.

Italiaander has been involved with many photographic organisations and was awarded an Honorary Membership of the Master Photographers Association, received as a gesture of thanks for work raising funds for charities. Gordon Brown as Prime Minister of the UK, wrote to Italiaander in support of his charitable work which continues, with many charities, as he has done throughout his working life.

In addition to his photographic work being widely published, Italiaander has tested photographic inkjet paper for Ilford and his images have been used on their packaging worldwide. He has also represented Olympus cameras.

Italiaander's friendship with the legendary harmonica virtuoso Larry Adler, led to him writing a book in tribute to Larry with contributions from Sting, Sir George Martin, Cher, Julian Lloyd-Webber, Itzhak Perlman and many other luminaries. He is currently working on his second book entitled ‘My Father’s War’ with the foreword written by Dame Vera Lynn.

Italiaander continues to be passionate about music with a forthcoming harmonica album and tennis which he plays for fun and to keep fit.
