George Arriola

Founder, President & CPO at Monohm Inc

George is an entrepreneur, craftsman, product guy, (a)rchitect, type designer, nerd, otaku, sous chef, and epiphany engineer.

He is currently founder and CEO at a skunk_works product design boutique known as Minimalisms, and is a Founder, President & Chief Product Officer at Monohm Inc. Monohm exists to create New Necessities™ crafted on core values: heirloom, connection, control, ecosystem - Heirloom Electronics™. Previously, as Founder / CXO at zeroº (zero360, inc.) a stealth wearable hardware and platform company. George led a multidisciplinary collective team of product management, industrial design & CMF, visual & interactive design. In late 2013, George established Monohm Inc.

During his tenure with Sony 2008 - 2013, George was directly responsible for establishing, defining, and driving Sony's common user experience across all 5-screens known as "genome" from Bravia, Xperia, to Vita, ending with the PlayStation 4 console and connected experiences.

While at Theranos in 2007, George immersed himself within advanced biotechnology hardware for nanofluidics, disease mapping and analysis. Working alongside FuseProject his team pushed on-device UX and attempted to make an effective difference in advanced oncology and onset diabetes.

Having been recruited into Apple in 2005, George jointly led a grassroots, cross-organizational project sponsored by executive management to assess the current and future Apple technology portfolio, and combine key architectures into unique UX frameworks powering OS X / iOS across iPhone to MacPro.

Prior to Apple, from 1993 - 2005 George spent over 12 years product managing, designing and producing product solutions and experiences for global brands like Adobe, Macromedia, Corbis, Microsoft, and MetaDesign.

It turns out George was also a bit of a (pro)otaku during his near decade in Japan having been an original voice actor on Neon Genesis Evangelion. Evangelion has become one of the most successful and critically acclaimed anime television series of the 1990s. Considered both a critique and deconstruction of the mecha genre, the series has become a cultural icon and has resulted in the artistic and technical revival of the anime industry in Japan. George currently splits his time between San Francisco, Tokyo, and Kyoto.
