Green innovation speaker Dr. George Elvin is renowned for his insight into cutting-edge green technologies and his talent for inspiring audiences to envision a greener, more sustainable future. Elvin is a recognized expert on a variety of green topics including green building, nanotechnology in architecture, clean technologies, biotechnology, environmental issues, LEED architecture and sustainable design.
Elvin's conference speaking engagements and seminars frequently take him across the country and around the world. He has delivered the keynote address on sustainable innovation at the opening of a South American biofuel plant, led workshops on green building in Singapore and addressed numerous audiences in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
In his role as director of the design, research and consulting firm Green Technology Forum, Elvin is a respected thought leader on next-generation green technologies. Elvin appears regularly in media interviews and is a prolific author with books and articles published by Wiley, the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Civil Engineers and many others. His most recent book, Post-Petroleum Design, was released in 2015.
Elvin has a Ph.D. in architecture from the University of California at Berkeley, is a LEED-accredited professional, ran a successful design-build firm in the Washington D.C. area and served as a visiting fellow at the University of Edinburghs Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and the Center for Energy Research, Education and Service. He was recently an associate professor at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He currently works as an Associate Professor of Architecture at North Carolina State University.
