African-Italian American Actor, Director, Producer; Best Known for his Role as Gustavo "Gus" Fring on AMC's Breaking Bad

Giancarlo Esposito is a celebrated television, film and stage actor whose acting career spans over several decades.

Esposito's television roles include Federal Agent Mike Giardello in the NBC police drama series "Homicide: Life on the Street" (1998–1999), Sidney Glass / Magic Mirror in the ABC supernatural drama series "Once Upon a Time" (2011–2017), Tom Neville in the NBC science fiction series "Revolution" (2012–2014), Dr. Edward Ruskins in the Netflix comedy-drama series "Dear White People" (2017–present), Stan Edgar in the Amazon Prime Video superhero drama series "The Boys" (2019–present), and Moff Gideon in the Disney+ space western drama series "The Mandalorian" (2019–present), the lattermost of which earned him two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. He also portrayed American Baptist pastor and politician Adam Clayton Powell Jr. in the TV series "Godfather of Harlem" (2019-present).

In 2014, Esposito was honored with a Star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame. He also directed, produced & starred in the independent historical drama “Political Treason,” the story of abolitionist John Brown. Esposito played Fredrick Douglass opposite 4-time Academy Award® nominee Ed Harris.

Television audiences know him best from his iconic portrayal of drug kingpin Gustavo “Gus” Fring in AMC’s critically acclaimed award-winning series “Breaking Bad,” for which he won the 2012 Critics Choice Award & earned a 2012 Emmy® nomination as well.

He recently finished production on the independent thriller, “Poker Night,” opposite Ron Perlman, Titus Welliver & Ron Eldard – starring as a seasoned police detective.

He is also known for his appearances in several Spike Lee films, such as School Daze, Do the Right Thing, Mo' Better Blues, and Malcolm X. Esposito's other major films include Taps, King of New York, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, Fresh, The Usual Suspects, Ali, Last Holiday, Gospel Hill, Rabbit Hole, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, The Jungle Book, Money Monster, Okja, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, and Stargirl.

He is also very well-known to theatre goers for his award-winning work on stage. He recently starred in Atlantic Theatre Company’s world premiere of “Storefront Church,” written and directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award® winner John Patrick Shanley. “Storefront Church” was the final installment of the trilogy called “Church & State,” which began with “Doubt.” Esposito has won two Obie Awards for "Zooman and The Sign" at the Negro Ensemble Company and "Distant Fires" at The Atlantic Theatre Company, where he continues to perform and teach as a company member. His long list of Broadway credits include "Sacrilege", "Seesaw", "Merrily We Roll Along" and "Lost In The Stars" to name a few. He also co-starred on Broadway with James Earl Jones, Terrence Howard and Phylicia Rashad in Debbie Allen¹s rendition of the great classic Tennessee Williams play, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.”

Esposito is a yoga enthusiast and spends his free time riding his motorcycle and practicing the saxophone. He is also a proud board member of the Creative Coalition, an arts and advocacy group that champions the First Amendment. He also lends his support to other various organizations, including the Waterkeeper Alliance, Kids for Peace & World Merit USA, that support the arts and education.
