In 2010, Burris founded her own company that makes finely wrought, one-of-a-kind hats for clients who include Rihanna, Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga. Her work has appeared in Elle, Harpers Bazaar, W, Interview, Town and Country, and Vogue Italia. A sixth generation Floridian, one of her favorite materials is alligator skin, some from gators captured on her family's property.
