Gilbert Welch is a general internist at the White River Junction VA Medical Center and a professor of medicine at Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Research in the Geisel School of Medicine. He is a professor of public policy at Dartmouth College and a professor of business administration at the Amos Tuck School. His research has been focused on early diagnosis and on overdiagnosis, particularly in cancer screenings for melanoma, thyroid, lung, breast, and prostate cancer. His latest book is "Overdiagnosed."
