Gillian McKeith is an internationally acclaimed Holistic Nutritionist and host of the UK’s hit television series You Are What You Eat. The show is regularly watched by millions of viewers in over 34 different countries around the world. McKeith has recently launched a new series titled You Are What You Eat: Gillian Moves In!, which is sure to be another hit.
McKeith received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Edinburgh and went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with her masters. Soon after graduation, she experienced a severe bout of ill health and credited her recovery to nutritional medicine. This spurred several years of further education which saw her re-training for both her masters and doctorate degrees in Holistic Nutrition from the American Holistic College of Nutrition, which she received in 1997.
Gillian McKeith has continued to educate herself with ongoing education in the field of nutrition. She is a postgraduate member of The Centre for Nutrition Education England and is active in various health organizations, including the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP) in the USA. McKeith also holds certificates from the London School of Acupuncture, Kailash Centre for Oriental Studies and is an an honors graduate of the Australian College of Health Sciences.
McKeith is the author of nine internationally acclaimed books, five of which have reached bestseller status. Her books are published in 35 countries and titles include, Gillian McKeith’s You Are What You Eat, Gillian’s You Are What You Eat Cookbook, The Ultimate Health Plan, Slim For Life and Food Bible. The nutrition information on McKeith’s television programs and in her books is supported by referenced and sound research.
As a Holistic Nutritionist, McKeith has spent more than ten years working with clients in private practice. Although she is not a medical doctor, she often confers with various medical professionals to assist with her client's cases. Her life mission is to ‘empower people to improve their lives through information, food and lifestyle’.
