Ecological anthropologist and researcher on food, farming and biotechnology

Glenn Davis Stone, PhD, is an environmental anthropologist and Professor of Anthropology and Environmental Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. He conducts research and writing on agriculture and food issues, particularly sustainability, small farms, and genetically modified crops.

Unusual in the world of biotechnology controversies, he is known for objective non-partisan analysis and commentary.

He is a frequent academic speaker and prolific author. He is the author of one book (Settlement Ecology, Univ. Arizona Press, 1996) and over 50 articles in such journals as Current Anthropology, American Anthropologist, Human Ecology, World Development, Science Technology & Human Values, Human Organization, AgBioForum, Food Culture & Society, Economic & Political Weekly, and Technology in Society. He also writes the blog on food, farming and biotechnology, and has been interviewed in such forums as Science Friday with Ira Flatow and Down to Earth magazine.
