Gloria A. Wilder, M.D., MPH, is the CEO of Core Health and VP of Innovation and Preventive Health at Centene Corporation, a Fortune 500 diversified, multi-national healthcare enterprise. In her role, she is pivotal in steering strategies towards improving health equity and addressing social determinants of health. Dr. Wilder's extensive experience encompasses being a nationally recognized pediatrician, entrepreneur, public speaker, and an expert on poverty and economic segregation in healthcare. She formerly served as Chair of Mobile Health Programs at Georgetown University and Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Between 2009 and 2011, she held the position of Executive Vice President of Physician Integration and Strategic Alliances at United Medical Center.
Dr. Wilder founded Core Health in 2005, a health and wellness company dedicated to aiding underserved communities in accessing quality, holistic healthcare services. Through Core Health and Wellness Centers in Washington DC, her team offers comprehensive primary, preventive, and alternative health services in state-of-the-art medical homes. In addition, her tenure at Centene Corporation began in 2007 when she was selected by CEO Michael Neidorff to be one of the founding members of the Centene Health Advisory Council, a role she continues to fulfill.
Dr. Wilder's commitment to service and community upliftment has earned her several prestigious accolades. She joined the esteemed ranks of Jimmy Carter and Mother Teresa when she received the National Caring Award in 2005. The previous year, 2004, she was named Physician Humanitarian of the Year by George Washington University and was also inducted into the Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society. Her contributions have been recognized with the Oprah Winfrey Use Your Life Award, and her work has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show, CBS' "48 Hours", and NBC’s "Dateline". As a speaker, Dr. Wilder explores vital topics like health equity, social justice, and the impact of social determinants on health, continually advocating for improved healthcare access in historically underserved communities.
