Gray Davis is Of Counsel at Loeb & Loeb LLP and the former governor of California. Davis was elected in 1998 with 58 percent of the vote and re-elected in 2002. He signed legislation to increase accountability in schools and expanded access to higher education with a record number of scholarships and college loans. Davis invested heavily in infrastructure, created four Centers of Science and Innovation on UC campuses and extended state health insurance to 1 million more children. He was the first governor to authorize stem cell research, signed the first law in the nation to reduce greenhouse gases and established the nation's most ambitious commitment to renewable energy. Previously, Davis was lieutenant governor, state controller and an assemblyman. He is a member of the bipartisan Think Long Committee, a senior fellow at the UCLA School of Public Affairs and co-chair of the Southern California Leadership Council. A graduate of Stanford University and Columbia Law School, Davis was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam.
