Gregg Maryniak    

Co-Founder and Secretary of the X PRIZE Foundation

Gregg Maryniak is the Secretary of the X PRIZE Foundation and a member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. He co-founded X PRIZE and served as the Foundation’s first Executive Director from 1997 through 2005. He currently leads the Foundation’s education partnerships.

He is Chairman of the Energy and Environmental Systems Track of Singularity University, hosted by NASA’s Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California.

He formerly served as Vice President for Energy and Aerospace of the St. Louis Science Center, Director of the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, Senior Scientist of the Futron Corporation, Managing Director of the International Space University and Chief Executive Officer of the Space Studies Institute of Princeton. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation.

Maryniak received the Space Frontier Foundation’s Vision to Reality Award for his role in creating the Lunar Prospector Mission launched in 1998. He was awarded Russia’s Tsiolkovsky Medal for his work on the use of energy and material resources of free space. He is an Associate Fellow of The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

A commercial pilot with more than 40 years of flight experience, he has Multiengine, Instrument and Glider ratings. He served as Flight Director for Erik Lindbergh’s 2002 New Spirit of St. Louis flights from San Diego to Paris.
