President of Talladega College

Dr. Gregory J. Vincent is an award-winning educator, acclaimed civil rights attorney, and community leader who serves as the 21st President of Talladega College, Alabama’s oldest private college. Known for his commitment to social justice and equity, Dr. Vincent has dedicated his career to advancing educational opportunities and fostering inclusive environments within academic institutions. Under his leadership, Talladega College has experienced significant growth and transformation, bolstering its reputation as a premier historically Black liberal arts college.

Dr. Vincent previously served as Professor of Educational Policy and Law, Inaugural Executive Director of the Education and Civil Rights Initiative, and Program Chair of the PhD Senior Diversity Officer Specialization at the University of Kentucky. He joined Hobart and William Smith Colleges as President in 2017 after serving at the University of Texas at Austin as Vice President for Diversity and Community Engagement and W.K. Kellogg Professor. In 2016, Dr. Vincent played a major role in the case of Fisher v. University of Texas, in which the Supreme Court ruled to uphold the use of affirmative action in higher education.

Dr. Vincent previously held executive leadership positions and professorships at several other flagship universities. Additionally, he served as the Grand Sire Archon of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, leading the oldest African American Greek-letter organization.
