Gretchen C. Daily  

Environmental Scientist & Tropical Ecologist; Stanford University Professor

is a Stanford University professor in the Biological Sciences Department, a senior fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment, director of the Center for Conservation Biology, and chair of The Natural Capital Project. Upon receiving her PhD in Biological Sciences, Daily was granted the Frances Lou Kallman Award for Excellence in Science and Graduate Study. She was then named a Pew Fellow in Conservation and the Environment, a fellow of the Aldo Leopold Leadership Program, a recipient of the 21st Century Scientist Award, a Smith Senior Scholar of The Nature Conservancy, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is the author of many articles and books, including The New Economy of Nature: The Quest to Make Conservation Profitable (Island Press, 2002).
