Gwendolyn Myers has over five years of experience working in peace and non- violence education among in and out of school youth. She serves as founder & Executive Director of Messengers of Peace (MOP) Liberia; with major responsibilities for programme formulation and execution as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the organization. The core value of her organization is to encourage and motivate young Liberians to volunteer for peace and development in Liberia.
The group was established to undertake peace building initiatives and public education programs in communities across the country. The organization actively participated in the peaceful conduct of the recently held elections in Liberia; designing messages of peace and disseminating these through radio jingles, spot messages and street dramas.
She also worked for the Kofi Annan Peace Institute for Conflict Transformation (KAICT), University of Liberia as Program Coordinator for the YON GBON Youth Leadership Program. Gwendolyn has excellent computer skills and tertiary education in Biology & Chemistry from the Mother Patern College of Health Sciences, Stella Maris Polytechnic, Liberia. She is a candidate for post graduate certificate in Peacebuilding, Women’s peacebuilding Leadership Cohort Program at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding, Eastern Mennonite University, VA, USA.
Gwendolyn enjoys focusing on the topics of strategic peace building,peace&security,dignity, conflict resolution, Analysis and mediation.
She, along with members of her organization, are currently working on the establishment of peace clubs in secondary schools and communities in Liberia, as a way of encouraging more young people to volunteer for peace and development.
Ms. Myers is looking forward to the establishment of a vibrant network of young peace ambassadors around the world, especially young women in championing the cause for promoting peace and development through volunteerism.
