Gwyneth Paltrow

Actress, Entrepreneur, Founder & CEO of Goop

Gwyneth Kate Paltrow is an Academy Award-winning American actress. Born as the daughter of a Hollywood director and an actress, she was raised both in California and New York. Although she started studying Art History at the University of California, she soon dropped out to pursue acting full-time. Gwyneth started dabbling in professional acting at a very early age, with minor roles in both “Shout” (starring John Travolta) and “Hook” (starring Robin Williams), both in 1991. Her supporting role in “Se7en” four years later introduced her to future fiancé Brad Pitt, though sadly the engagement only lasted six months.

From there on, Paltrow’s acting career blossomed, with critically acclaimed performances in “Emma,” “Shakespeare in Love” (for which she received an Academy Award), and “Bounce,” which also starred Ben Affleck, her then-boyfriend. Three weeks after the untimely passing of her father, Bruce Paltrow, Gwyneth met her future husband Chris Martin at a Coldplay gig. They married a little over a year later and stayed together for 10 years before ‘conscious uncoupling’ and finalising their divorce in 2016. They have two children, Apple Blythe Alison Martin and Moses Bruce Anthony Martin, born in 2004 and 2006. Gwyneth is also known for her high-profile friendship with popstar Madonna, her love for macrobiotic cuisine and her lifestyle website, GOOP. In April 2013, she was named as People magazine's annual Most Beautiful Woman.

Gwyneth Paltrow made her acting debut on stage in 1990 and started appearing in films in 1991. After appearing in several films throughout the decade, Paltrow gained early notice for her work in films such as “Seven” (1995) and “Emma” (1996). Paltrow garnered worldwide recognition through her performance in :Shakespeare in Love” (1998), for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress, a Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, for Outstanding Lead Actress and as a member of the Outstanding Cast. She also won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2011 for her role as Holly Holliday on the Fox hit TV show “Glee.”

Paltrow has portrayed supporting as well as lead roles in films such as “The Talented Mr. Ripley” (1999), “The Royal Tenenbaums” (2001), “Shallow Hal (2001),” and “Proof “(2005), for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination as Best Actress in Motion Picture Drama. Since 2008 she has portrayed Pepper Potts, the love interest of Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in “Iron Man” (2008), “Iron Man 2” (2010) and “The Avengers” (2012) and “The Avengers: Civil War” (2016).

Paltrow has been the face of Estee Lauder's Pleasures perfume since 2005. She is also the face of American fashion brand Coach, owner of the lifestyle company Goop.com and author of the cookbook My Father's Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness.

She was married to Chris Martin, the lead vocalist of Coldplay, from 2003-2016. They have two children together, Apple and Moses.

Paltrow is a Save the Children artist ambassador, raising awareness about World Pneumonia Day. She is on the board of the Robin Hood Foundation, a charitable organization that works to alleviate poverty in New York City.
