Mr. Harry A. Lawton III, also known as Hal, has been the President of Macy's, Inc. since September 08, 2017. Mr. Lawton serves as the Executive Chair for the Advisory Board of Breakthrough Atlanta. Mr. Lawton served as Senior Vice President of North America at eBay Inc. from April 2015 to August 15, 2017. Mr. Lawton served as the Head of eBay North America at eBay Inc. since June 2015 and served as its Senior Vice President from 2015 to September 2017 and held a number of leadership positions at Home Depot, Inc. from 2005 to 2015. Mr. Lawton oversaw all aspects of eBay’s Americas business unit, including marketing, merchandising, operations, business selling, consumer selling and advertising, as well as global responsibility for shipping, payments, risk and trust.

Prior to joining eBay, Mr. Lawton spent 10 years in various leadership roles at Home Depot. Mr. Lawton served as Senior Vice President of Hardlines at The Home Depot, Inc. He was responsible for merchandising and marketing strategies for hardware and garden. He joined The Home Depot in 2005 as a Director of Strategic Development and served as Vice President of finance for the Merchandising organization and Senior Vice President of Merchandising since 2013. Mr. Lawton was responsible for starting Home Depot’s Internet business and building it to nearly $2 billion. He served as the President and Senior Vice President of online at The Home Depot, where he oversaw the strategy, sales and operations of online channels. Prior to The Home Depot, he served as an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Co. and a process engineer at Champion International Corp. He had been an Independent Director of Buffalo Wild Wings, Inc. since October 6, 2016 until February 2018.

He serves on the Corporate Advisory Board for The University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. He serves as a Member of the Board of the San Jose Children’s Discovery Museum. Mr. Lawton earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Pulp and Paper Science from North Carolina State University in 1996. He also studied Master of Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia in 2000.
