Hamdi Ulukaya

CEO, President & Founder of Chobani Greek Yogurt

A self-proclaimed “dairy boy,” Hamdi Ulukaya was born in Erzincan, Turkey, where he grew up working on his family’s sheep farm and dairy manufacturing operations.

Hamdi Ulukaya entered the business world with the vision of bringing superior products to the U.S. market, which led to the creation of two dairy product ventures. In 2002, Hamdi launched Euphrates Feta, in Johnstown, N.Y., which quickly became one of the most successful wholesale feta cheese companies in the country. In 2005, he founded one of the world’s fastest growing consumer brands, Chobani Greek Yogurt, in New Berlin, N.Y.

In February 2012, Chobani and the U.S. Olympic Committee announced a partnership to fuel Team USA through the winter Olympics in 2014.

Today, Chobani is the No. 1 yogurt in America. Its Central New York yogurt plant, which used to see only one milk truck a day, now uses over three million pounds of milk a day and ships over 1.6 million cases each week.
