Co-Founder of Roshni Rides; Providing Transportation for Refugees

Hanaa Lakhani is a 2016 graduate from the Rutgers Business School - New Brunswick. After interning twice at JP Morgan, she accepted an offer within their rotational business leadership program (OADP) in Brooklyn, NY. While working full-time, Hanaa pursued her start-up, Roshni Rides.

Roshni Rides is a women's friendly carpooling platform for commuters based in Pakistan and founded by Hanaa Lakhani, Hasan Usmani, Gia Farooqi and Moneeb Mian. The four Rutgers classmates wanted to provide a reliable transportation service for refugees, and their company arranges affordable rickshaw rides along designated routes between a refugee camp and common destinations such as markets and hospitals.

The idea helped Roshni Rides win the $1 million Hult Prize in 2017 after competing against over 100,000 applicants, and the team are now focused on working with companies to provide safe rides for female employees in the country.

She now works full-time in Karachi, Pakistan for her social start-up. Being a co-founder in the social entrepreneurship space, she is passionate about transportation for women and making sustainable changes through business.
