Harbrinder S. Kang
Sr. Director, Corporate Affairs Cisco Systems, Inc.
For more than 20 years, Harbrinder has provided networking and telecommunications leadership for organizations ranging from Silicon Valley startups to Fortune 500 companies. Harbrinder is an engaging speaker on topics including the future of collaboration technologies, the business value of collaboration, and technology adoption and change management.
Harbrinder currently leads the Platform Strategy team for Cisco Corporate Affairs. In this role, he is responsible for the strategic development, growth, and evolution of the award-winning Cisco Networking Academy program, which delivers computer networking education to more than one million students around the world each year. With academies established at educational institutions in 165 countries, Cisco Networking Academy is one of the largest multi-stakeholder partnerships in the world. Harbrinder’s team is also developing a scalable platform strategy for other Cisco social responsibility initiatives, with a focus on leveraging the power of collaboration technologies to generate exponential impact.
Harbrinder previously led the Collaboration Technologies team within Cisco, where he helped direct the vision and strategy for Cisco’s Integrated Workforce Experience (IWE) collaboration platform. In this role, Harbrinder applied a holistic approach of culture, process, and technology to drive enterprise transformation, with a focus on user experience design and agile development. In an earlier role at Cisco, Harbrinder worked closely with business unit leaders to define Cisco’s security strategy, and was instrumental in acquisitions and investments in the VPN and security spaces.
Before joining Cisco, Harbrinder was vice president of business development at Bivio Networks, where he managed strategic accounts, hardware and software partnerships, and the launch of a development community for the Bivio platform.
Prior to Bivio, Harbrinder was director of technical marketing at Network Appliance, where he organized and led a large team focused on cross-functional corporate strategies for Linux and high-performance computing environments.
Before Network Appliance, Harbrinder was vice president of business development at Ubicom, a leading supplier of Internet processors and networking software. He led Ubicom's strategy to deliver end-to-end solutions in collaboration with industry leaders and partners.
Harbrinder is married and has three children. His interests include his family, modern architecture and construction, and aikido. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Birmingham, England.
