Harry Dunn

Former Capitol Police Officer, New York Times Bestselling Author of "Standing My Ground" and Founder of Dunn's Democracy Defenders PAC; Mental Health Advocate

Harry Dunn is an author, political candidate, and former Capitol Police officer. A 15-year veteran of the Capitol Police force, he became one of the public faces of the officers who battled rioters seeking to keep President Donald Trump in power after he lost the 2020 election.

Dunn became a fixture on the cable news circuit, testified at a televised House Jan. 6 committee hearing and wrote a New York Times bestselling book about his life, “Standing My Ground: A Capitol Police Officer's Fight for Accountability and Good Trouble After January 6th.” His efforts during the attack earned him both the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Presidential Citizens Medal. Since the insurrection, Dunn has frequently and openly spoken about how the impact of the violence of January 6 has been on his mental health.

A political newcomer, Dunn used his national platform for an unsuccessful run for Congress in Maryland. He also founded Dunn’s Democracy Defenders PAC, his commitment to building up the next generation of leaders who will defeat MAGA, get big money out of politics, and ensure democracy works for the people.

Dunn attended James Madison University where he earned a degree in public health education and promotion. While there, he was a student-athlete on the football team and a starting offensive lineman for the 2004 national championship team.
