Helen Sung

Award-winning jazz pianist and composer

is an award-winning jazz pianist and composer. This East-meets-West-in-the-South (she’s a native of Houston, TX) now-gone-North(east)-once-classical-pianist-before-a-Tommy-Flanagan-solo-changed-everything defied her cultural and musical upbringing to pioneer a path embracing her multifaceted talents. A graduate of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance, Sung lives in New York City and has released three critically acclaimed albums. She has worked with jazz masters including Clark Terry, Ron Carter, Wayne Shorter, and MacArthur Fellow Regina Carter, and, in addition to her own band, can be seen with the Mingus Big Band, T.S. Monk, and Terri Lyne Carrington. A dazzling performer, Sung takes audiences for a ride they won’t soon forget.
