Helen Wan

Lawyer and Author of "The Partner Track"

Helen Wan is an author and lawyer whose debut novel, "The Partner Track," was published by St. Martin’s Press in September 2013.

The Partner Track is the story of a young Asian-American woman poised to become the first minority female partner at a prestigious law firm. It’s about how diversity, difference and ‘outsider’ status impact the lives of talented young people of color ascending the corporate ladder. It’s also about ambition itself, and the question of how to stay true to ourselves while pursuing career success.

Since the book’s release, she's had the amazing opportunity to speak at law firms, law schools, universities, corporations, leadership conferences and other places around the country about the themes of her novel: how we — especially women and Asian Americans — experience the dynamics of corporate America, and what we can do to achieve a more inclusive and engaging workplace.

Helen finds group dynamics and social hierarchies endlessly fascinating. She's very interested in women’s complicated relationship with ambition, and how gender, race, class and cultural upbringings affect our personal and professional decision making. She loves a good workplace story, and she roots for underdogs.

When she's not writing or lawyering, Helen loves reading fiction, relaxing with her family, exploring new neighborhoods and making her infant son giggle.
