Professor at UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music

Herbie Hancock, an iconic jazz musician, has served as a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles since 2012, where he teaches at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. Renowned for his experimental approach and pushing the boundaries of jazz, Hancock has made significant contributions to the genre. His innovative style has earned him widespread recognition, including 12 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, and five MTV Awards in the 1980s.

Currently, Hancock holds the position of chairman at the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz (known as the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz until 2019). This role allows him to continue his work in shaping the future of jazz. He remains active in the music world, continuing to perform and create new music.
