Hervé Duteil      

Chief Sustainability Officer, BNP Paribas

Hervé P. Duteil has spent most of his career with BNP Paribas in New York, aside from an initial start in Sydney, Australia. For over 20 years, he specialized in trading derivatives and managing capital market activities, spanning across commodity, currency, fixed income and electronic markets. In 2014, he took over the role of heading Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainable Finance in the Americas, bringing a strong focus on promoting client dialogue around sustainability topics and developing tailored financing solutions or responsible investment products. In 2016, he led BNP Paribas’ efforts to close its first Social Impact Bond for the benefit of the State of Connecticut.

Beyond his role to promote the bank’s business growth in sustainable finance, he serves as brand ambassador and thought leader through external speaking engagements and networks around the topic of sustainability and corporate social responsibility. He has developed a passion to relentlessly focus organizations on developing business solutions addressing societal challenges, and his narrative regularly seeks to inspire both leaders and employees to connect the core of their work to their highest ideals of making the world a better place.

He holds a Master in Business Administration with distinction from the Harvard Business School, a Master of Science from the University of Cambridge, a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics & Physics from the University of Paris, and as well as attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York.
