Holly Robinson Peete is an accomplished actress, singer, author, and philanthropist, widely recognized for her work in television and her advocacy for autism and Parkinson’s disease. Born on September 18, 1964, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Robinson Peetegrew up in the entertainment industry, with her father, Matt Robinson, being the original Gordon on "Sesame Street". Robinson Peete’s own breakthrough came in 1987 when she starred as Officer Judy Hoffs on the hit television series "21 Jump Street". The role made her a household name and set the stage for a successful career in television that included starring roles in "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper" and "For Your Love".
In addition to her acting, Robinson Peete has appeared as a co-host on the daytime talk show "The Talk" and starred in various TV movies and reality shows, including her family-focused series "For Peete’s Sake". Known for her talent, versatility, and warmth, Robinson Peete has remained a beloved figure in the entertainment industry for over three decades. She is also an accomplished author, co-writing the book "Get Your Own Damn Beer, I’m Watching the Game: A Woman’s Guide to Loving Pro Football", which showcases her passion for sports and breaks down the game for female fans.
Outside of her entertainment career, Robinson Peete is a tireless advocate for causes close to her heart. In 1997, she and her husband, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, founded the HollyRod Foundation, inspired by her father’s battle with Parkinson’s disease and their eldest son RJ’s autism diagnosis. The foundation provides support and resources to families affected by Parkinson’s and autism, raising awareness and offering much-needed assistance. Robinson Peete’s advocacy work has made her a powerful voice in both communities, and she has been honored for her charitable efforts and activism.
