Howard Anderson

The New York Times probably said it best; "There are a lot of people out there trying to make their livings as experts and consultants in the technology and communications businesses.

Almost all owe something to Howard Anderson, who practically invented the technology consulting industry when he founded the Yankee Group". Anderson's expertise: the communications industry and how it will change virtually every company - and every family in America.

Anderson is a founding partner and the Senior Managing Director of YankeeTek Ventures, an incubator of high-tech ventures in Cambridge. He is also founder and chairman of The Yankee Group, a high-technology research and consulting firm, where he served as President and CEO from 1970 until 1999. In addition, Anderson is also the William Porter Distinguished Lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he teaches two courses on entrepreneurship: New Enterprises and Entrepreneurs in the Internet.

However, Anderson is more than a futurist with a bully pulpit; he is an accomplished venture capitalist. He is cofounder of Battery Ventures, a venture capital firm in the Boston area, in addition to YankeeTek Ventures. Anderson is someone who puts serious money where his mouth is. In a larger sense, virtually every company will also become a form of venture capitalist as it decides where to put its scarce resources.
